The red spider mite, but why red – it’s a sort of light brown colour that gets a bit redder later in the season?Â
Well, one thing is for sure, it’s a right little breeder! Â
Plus, it is immune to many insecticides, with some studies showing that it is becoming immune to ever more chemicals with every spraying.Â
These little mites really swarm though, ever weakening your plants. Â
So, we have turned to Nature yet again to sort out its own problems. Â
That’s where Phytoseiulus Persimilis comes in. Â
These little mites, so the story goes, came from Chile to Germany with some Limes, then spread around a bit. Â
To keep up with the Red Spider mites breeding it needs at least 21 degrees centigrade, which is easily obtained in the greenhouse or conservatory. Â
It will then be quite happy to chomp away at your Red spider mite through the summer. Â
