Seedling Coir Pots

from £6.00

Coming from what would be the unused husks of coconuts, our coir fibre is a totally renewable, and constantly renewed, natural resource. The pots will become ‘fluffy’ over time and last a a couple of seasons above ground or naturally biodegrade in the soil.

We grow our coir pots come from the husks of coconuts (it’s usually a wasted by-product) so our coir fibre is a totally-renewable and constantly-renewed, natural resource.

The coir is dried in the sun, sprayed with natural, organic latex, rolled flat in a mangle and pressed into shape with before being trimmed by hand.

Then it begins the journey to your garden and back to the soil as these pots will happily biodegrade when you plant them.

Nature’s Natural Cycle rolls around again.

Plant these pots directly into the ground – there is absolutely no waste – and you’ll benefit from healthy air-pruned roots, no root binding, no need to twiddle the roots when you plant so no root shock either.

The organic natural Jute bag we can package them in has a myriad of uses in the garden too, and of course – after a couple of years – you can compost it.

They last about 12 months above ground and about six weeks when planted. We say ‘about’ as they are natural products and hand crafted. (We get them from a village women’s co-operative in south Sri Lanka)

Oh, by the way…

We carried out an in-depth study of the carbon captured by our coir pots. This study included all the processes through growing the coir and rubber trees, the production of the pots and their delivery to us. We were really chuffed with the results. For example, just one of our 13 cm (1 litre) pots captures 0.1806 kg of carbon. (And our courier delivery guys are carbon neutral too.)
