Coir Grow Trays

from £4.25

Coming from what would be the unused husks of coconuts, our coir fibre is a totally renewable, and constantly renewed, natural resource. These seed trays can be re-used for a couple of years, but will eventually be ready to biodegrade naturally back into the soil they came from.

Grow Trays 19 cm ( 7-8”) long, about 15 cm wide and 7 cm deep

Coming from what would be the unused husks of coconuts, our coir fibre is a totally renewable, and constantly renewed, natural resource.

Each tray is hand-crafted by village women from the poorest area of Southern Sri Lanka.

Fairtrade in sustainable material which offsets CO2, think that really fits in with nature’s cycle!

Naturally, growing coconut palms actually help reduce C02 emissions – try saying that about an oil well!

The coir grow trays, hand-made by the friendly people of Sri Lanka, come to you on scheduled ships, and happily biodegrade when you plant them, and so a natural resource returns back to your soil.

These seed grow trays can be re-used for a couple of years, but will eventually be ready to biodegrade naturally back into the soil they came from

Ingredient  Description
Coir (Coconut Husk)  A renewable and biodegradable material used to form the pots
Natural Latex  Provides structural integrity to the pots, making them durable and flexible
Water  Used in the manufacturing process to shape and set the coir material

These biodegradable coir pots are eco-friendly, perfect for growing plants without creating waste and they naturally decompose when planted.

  • Place your coir Grow Tray on a flat surface. Ensure it is positioned in an area with plenty of light for seedlings to thrive.
  • Fill the tray with coir compost or a potting mix of your choice. Gently press down to level it out without compacting the soil.
  • Make small holes in the soil and place your seeds according to the seed packet’s instructions. Cover lightly with soil.
  • Water gently, keeping the soil moist but not soggy. Use a fine spray or watering can to avoid displacing the seeds.
  • Place the tray in a warm, sunny location or use a propagator if available. Make sure the seedlings receive plenty of light to encourage healthy growth.
  • Keep an eye on your seedlings, ensuring they have adequate water and light. Once they’re ready, you can transplant them into the garden or larger pots.
  • After use, you can reuse the trays for a few seasons. When you’re done, simply plant the tray directly into the ground, where it will biodegrade.
