Our seaweed granules come from the cold, clear, unpolluted waters surrounding the Shetland Isles and Ireland, where our Ascophyllum nodosum seaweed is harvested by hand at low tide. Our harvesters use sharp knives, leaving at least 6 inches of the stalk to regenerate, so the plant grows back even stronger.
Collected in nets or buckets, it’s moved just a few hundred yards to the drying sheds where it’s dried and bagged. From there the seaweed granules begin their journey to your garden and begin that wonderful natural cycle anew.
Can anything be more sustainable? A burst of fresh Atlantic air and the essence of crystal-clear seas greet you when you untie the bag.
Scottish Natural Heritage and the Irish Department of Agriculture, Food and Marine monitor the entire process. Our friendly, organic farming partners are passionate about protecting the environment and ensuring coastal regeneration continues. No waste is left behind; any remaining seaweed nourishes their fields or treats their cherished livestock.
Our seaweed granules can be mixed into compost, applied directly around established plants, added to planting holes for shrubs or spread across lawns for a lush, verdant green.
Other natural items to complement our seaweed include neem fertilizer, Biohumus (worm castings) and Mycorrhizal Fungi, known as “Nature’s Wonderdrug”.
Below are the detailed nutrient values but remember, nature’s composition can vary slightly with each harvest.
